DOVER — Dover and its residents may have missed out on winning the Powerball, but there is a chance that it could be awarded with a $500,000 grant for renovations.

What could downtown Dover do with that money? Dover Main Street and the Chamber of Commerce are asking for your input.

The grant, sponsored by Deluxe, a partner of small business throughout the country, is called the “Small Business Revolution on Main Street” Award. According to the grant’s website, the winning town or city will be provided with tools to aid small businesses and public spaces in the area.

The winning city will also appear in an online video series documenting the transformation made possible by the award.

Dover Main Street is asking for help from residents to make its case for why the Garrison City deserves the grant. The winner will be chosen based on challenges facing the town and local businesses, as well as proposed use of the $500,000. To add your opinion about why Dover deserves this award, send an email to director@dovermainstreet.org or call 603-740-6453 by 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25.

According to Molly Hodgson, executive director of the Dover Chamber of Commerce, the city will be submitting an initial proposal for the grant in the next few weeks. Updates will be provided in February.
